These photos, this outfit are some of my favourite hyper- bright colours. Even taken on a super rainy day they make me smile. In my last post I was colour blocking some cute primary colours and here I’m all warm toned brights- orange, red, and pink.

This bag of course, pulls everything together. A bargain from Primark (still in store) and I love it so much. If you can’t quite see the strap and largest portion of the bag is red, the middle pocket is orange and the flap is pink. Having an accessory that brings everything together makes colour blocking far less intimidating.

Also, the first time I fell in love with Orange and Pink as a combo? When I saw the exact same colour block being worn by Wendy Wu. Did  anyone else watch Wendy Wu Homecoming warrior? Great DCOM about a badass teenager who had an orange and pink homecoming dress. Inspiration comes from everywhere and before that I only thought co-ording could work.

This dress has this ruffled mini cape over the sleeves and back and when I twirl it all flies out!IMG_9216edit

The orange dress was in the boohoo sale and in my record of amazingly cheap dresses, it was, (drumroll pleeeeeeeeeease) £8. Yass. Paired with a pair of flats I’ve had for almost a year- from New Look originally- and my hot pink threadball earrings, this outfit is probably one of the cheapest but still makes a super bright impact.

Anywho, the life of me,

As some of you may know I study in Cambridge at a speciality college, but live in London. Thankfully the style of the course is for commuters and people who work so I normally trek up, have two intense days of lectures and head home. Last week however I was there for a full 6 days and it coincided with getting some pretty rough news and feeling super overwhelmed. However I’d like to share my favourite bits about the week-

-The second the sun comes out in the UK it’s all about BBQ’s and cider. Sitting in the sunshine with a group of people I’ve really grown with was enough to get me through all other stresses.

-One of my favourite habits we had over the week was taking in turn to buy/cook and share food together. What is better than someone else making you Mac and Cheese on a bad day?

-We also had a last minute group presentation sprung on us  but I’m totally content with my content.

-Living alone kinda sucks some times, so the encouragement of being in a house with buddies who serve nothing but enthusiasm everytime I get dressed or needy is nothing if not uplifting.

-My first ever stag do was super fun.

-I got some super supportive and loving messages from friends and colleagues back in London, reminding me that I’m coming home to a place of love

-Good weather always makes me happier and sunshine in Cambridge is glorious.

-I am one step closer to finishing my degree and even though that’s pretty scary, I feel well loved, well supported and I know that the friends I’ve made won’t be lost along the way as I head into the next chapter.

-Having friends who push you to do the right thing? Invaluable.

-Mimosas and homemade Eggs Benedict, in the sunshine, with people I love is definitely a touch of heaven on earth.

One of the reasons I love bright colours so much? They genuinely cheer me up. As literal as it is, sometimes I need the reminder that there are better and brighter things on the horizon.

If you like this look, shop my style!

Hopefully things will look up in general, and whilst it’s important to feel what you’re feeling, it’s also key not to wallow on what you don’t have.

Speak to you soon!

Love,

Jody

Awww….I love the orange/pink combination. You look like the essence of summer! You’re right about what happens when the sun comes out in the UK. BBQ, cider and bodies all over every inch of green space. Your post has me excited for the nice weather to return!

    Good luck with your studies!

What a fun colour combination, and you’re right – the bag sure does pull it all together. So bright and summery. I really like the background you chose to take the pictures in front of as well – those sky blue bricks really make the orange pop!
